POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Copywriter/Proofer will work in a creative capacity to conceive, develop and produce effective advertising, and communication messages.  In addition, this position will perform a “quality check” on publications, content, print, and all creative/marketing concepts prior to such being released to client-partners.

 

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Meeting with the Account Management and Creative Team to discuss client/brand requirements, core message and product background.
  • Brainstorming of ideas and concepts.
  • Working in a close-knit creative partnership with the Creative Team to generate workable concepts and ideas.
  • Writing, editing, proofing and/or rewriting clear, persuasive, original copy.
  • Proofread and correct internal and external communications for accuracy of spelling, style, spacing, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Reads typescript or proof of type setup to detect and mark for correction any grammatical, typographical, or compositional errors, by either of following methods: Places proof and copy side by side, references calendars for date accuracy to ensure all information is consistent.
  • Works interactively with Creative Director, Associate Creative Directors, Account Managers, Graphic Designers and Art Directors during creative concept phase to assess project requirements, deliverable and to create/implement a project timeline.
  • The text matches the original. Headings, page numbers (if applicable) and captions are correct.
  • As part of their responsibilities, proofreaders check typeset documents to ensure the publisher used the font style, size, and text spacing specified on the original copy. In addition, the proofreader check images, tables, and charts contained in a document to ensure they are precise and properly aligned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Marketing, Communications, Journalism and/or related field.
  • Knowledge of standard proofreading practices, procedures, and concept is also required.
  • Attention to details, able to identify and rephrase grammatical errors to ensure an error-free text.
  • Strong, attention to detail, with proofreading skills at a high level of accuracy.
  • Must be highly organized, SELF-START attention to detail, assertive, flexible and able to prioritize own workload.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including email and phones.
  • Spelling/Grammar Skill: Able to correctly assemble words and apply them in writing.
